Yesterday, Jada turned 4 months old…
Today, our focus switched from survival mode to working as hard as possible to change Jada’s schedule to sleeping at night and playing during the day. Needless to say, we haven’t been successful yet… We are carrying her feedings out further and requiring her to take more per feeding when she does eat. She is required to take 200 mL every 12 hours (remember- 30 mL = 1 oz). So far, she is reaching her goal. She makes LOTS of noises. The NICU warned us that micropreemies make lots of grunting noises all the time, but holy cow- it’s a lot! We absolutely LOVE having her at home and not having to make the trek up Mopac today. Thanks to Mom and Bill for taking the dogs for a few hours today and helping us with breakfast and Jada this am while I took a shower and Dave caught up on work. Thank you to the Dregits, Groutas, and Loggins for meals this week. We are looking forward to Nana Ruth and Grandpa Hal coming in tomorrow. It will be the first time for both of them to hold her, and I know it will be special for everyone!
As I type this post, Dave is singing, “The Wheels on the Bus” (his own version) to Jada! He is totally adorable with her. They dance around the kitchen and have lots of conversations. Thank you all for your prayers and for celebrating in this time with us as we join together as a family!

One of my kiddos had their days and nights mixed up for a while. There were sleepless nights but it worked out okay. If I remember right, it kind of happened at the same time we started eating a little more….soon Jada will be an eating champion and her belly will be full and she will go fast to sleep.
I am so glad that you have her home and she is doing well. I’ll keep praying for the 3 of you.
Hang in there! I know it is soooooo hard without sleep. If you need a shoulder to cry on just give me a call.
Blessings,
Kim and the Croft clan
Keep those pics and stories coming! Love ‘em! Have a wonderful first Thanksgiving with precious Jada!
Hi!
I’m a friend of Megan Ogle and she pointed me to your blog just after Jada was born.
I just wanted to say congratulations on having Jada home with you and your family. What an amazing miracle she is!
Enjoy this special time and try to get a little sleep too.
I giggle writing this… “Now things are normal with a newborn at home.”
Sleep will come in time (her time, not yours unfortunately). If you have already had a chance to shower (at least once) and Dave has had a chance to work (even a little) you are doing beyond GREAT as parents of a newborn at home.
We had a snorter in our household. She was banned from the bassinet in our room within a week of our getting no sleep and soon thereafter the monitor got turned off so that our “little piggy” didn’t keep us away all night. NOT suggesting you do the same with Jada- just sharing the funny memory with you.
I know you are relieved, tired and oh soooo happy! We all are.
Keep the photos and updates coming (as you can)… even if they are slurs of conscience thought in between power naps. We love them!
Love,
Jennifer
Congratulations – have fun with your precious baby finally home! I am so happy for you and wish you all the best!
Congrats on bringing precious Jada home!!
