Video and ECI update

ECI (Early Childhood Intervention) came to the house this morning to access and evaluate Jada’s progress to date.  They routinely service micropreemies, and said that she is the most advanced they have seen.  Because of her success so far, she doesn’t qualify for services at this time.  This is a blessing, but we will continue to monitor and observe her development.  Her scores on the DAYC (assessment) are as follows: Cognitive- 4 month old, Communication- 2 months old, Social/Emotional- 4 months old, Physical Development- 2 months old, and Adaptive Behavior- 2 months.  Their suggestions at this time is to continue lots of tummy time, practice reaching for toys, talk and sing to her, vocal play (back and forth), and to reevaluate in 4 months should we have concerns.

Below is a video from the weekend, Jan 2nd (not December!)…

  1. Fabulous news! I’m so glad to hear that she is doing so well. Happy New Year!

That’s fantastic that she doesn’t need ECI services! I am so glad that it is one less thing for you to have to deal with right now. Luke qualified for launguage delays with ECI and we see a developmental specialist for it too. I hope that you never have to use them!

Did you know that was what I did in Baltimore before moving to Austin in 1984? I worked with premies in the NICU and then did a follow-up program at home with babies like Jada. Wow! She is amazing! I would love to work with her. She is so expressive and happy. GReat movement and head control. But she is doing so well, she won’t need any help besides Mom’s and Dad’s. You guys are such attentive, caring parents she will continue to develop well. Always a good idea to stay in touch with ECI over the coming months. Beautiful baby!
    Love, Carol

How wonderful! My company actually publishes the DAYC and we have been working on revising it – when I see the authors, I cannot wait to tell them how their assessment is helping one of my little friends!! Go, Jada!!
